Between June and July, Better Together 98848 invited community members to help shape the visual identity of the project through a regional Logo Competition. The goal was to create a logo that reflects the values of connection and collaboration across Quincy, George, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and surrounding areas. The contest was open to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in the 98848 zip code—and the response was inspiring. Fourteen submissions were received, showcasing creativity, local pride, and a shared vision for the future.Winning entries received the following prizes:
- 1st Place: $500 and the opportunity to refine the design with a professional designer
- 2nd Place: $250
- 3rd Place: $100
The selected design will serve as the foundation for the Better Together 98848 brand and will be featured in the upcoming community calendar and project website.
Better Together 98848 set out to hear from residents across Quincy, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, Winchester, George, the Gorge, and surrounding areas. Together, we began gathering ideas that will be part of a collaborative plan to guide how we grow thoughtfully and support each other in the years ahead.
Over the course of three family-friendly listening sessions, 65 people shared their voices, their perspectives, and their ideas for what makes this region special—and what it could become.
Here’s when and where we gathered:
- April 15, 6–8 PM – George Elementary School (Bilingual: English/Spanish)
- April 16, 6–8 PM – Quincy Event Center (English)
- April 17, 6–8 PM – Quincy Event Center (Español)
In mid-March, Better Together 98848 hosted a series of small group conversations to meet people where they are and hear directly from those who shape the day-to-day life of our region. Over four days, we connected with 15 different community groups to gather input, listen to local priorities, and deepen our understanding of what matters most.
Groups included:
- Fire Station 3 Volunteer Firefighters & Board
- Quincy Community Health Center
- Healthcare providers
- Families in the Migrant Program
- City workers
- Quincy Chamber board & committee members
- Rotary Club members
- Educators
- Farmers and families
- The Georgettes
- Downtown business community
- Quincy Middle School Leadership Class
- Quincy High School Leadership & Senior AVID classes
These conversations laid the groundwork for the broader visioning work and helped ensure that diverse voices are represented in the planning process.
